Choosing The Right Tattoo For Your Skin
So you’ve decided that you want a tattoo, easy right? Wrong! Tattoos are like artwork and they can be any subject, any size, any shape any color! They can be cartoon like or they can be realistic. Choosing the right tattoo for you is important so always take your time.
You have to remember and accept that this artwork you want is going to be on your body for the rest of your life, you want to be able to look at it in 20 or 30 or even 50 years time and still think you made the right decision. So thinking about it closely will really benefit you later on.
Many people have tattoos that they regret, several of those people would have gone into a tattoo studio on a whim with no real idea of what they wanted and just plucked something off the top of their head or seen something on a wall, that’s also known as flash work. It would be nicer however if your design was that bit more original or had your personal twist to it.
Okay so the first real question is ‘why’? If your answer is ‘why not’ then you’re off to an easy start, if you don’t have a particular reason for getting some ink then you just need to think about what drives you, do you love your job? Maybe have something that represents your profession, maybe you really like gardening, how about some flowers or even something as funky as a cool mower?
Love drag racing? Why not get a cool drag car speeding down your leg? The possibilities are endless and your options wide open. Some people get tattoos to represent someone who has died in their lives, these are known as memorial tattoos and represent the bond that person had with them.
Running out the day after a loved one has passed away and getting tattooed works for some people but not most unless their passing has been a long process and the thought has been in their mind for some time. Memorial tattoos are ones to really give some thought to. Think of that person and what could represent them and the life they shared with you to make a really nice fitting tattoo.
So now you know what it is you want you have to give other things a think as well such as where do you want it, what hues do you want or is black and gray a better option, how big will the design be? You’ll also have to find an artist, recommendations from friends is a great way to go as you can see their work and how its aged, most artists will also have websites where you can check out their talent and style.
You also want to make sure really that you get on with your artist, if you’re going to be sat with them for a few hours or even for multiple sessions then it is always a bonus to be able to feel comfortable as well. If you don’t then move on and go in and chat with someone else until you find someone you’re happy with, its your body after all!
